GParted is the Gnome Partition Editor application.
The purpose of GParted is to allow the individual to take a hard disk and change the partition organization therein, while preserving the partition contents.
GParted is an industrial-strength package for creating, destroying, resizing, moving, checking and copying partitions, and the filesystems on them. This is useful for creating space for new operating systems, reorganizing disk usage, copying data residing on hard disks and mirroring one partition with another (disk imaging).
Latest changes:
- We now use Squashfs-LZMA witch allows best compression and makes the file size reduce to 45MO.
- Upgrade to Xorg 7.2 offers a better support and auto detection for video and resolution (even Virtualbox is auto detected), but old mkxf86config is still available as an option in GRUB, if needed.
- Thanks to Darkscout, "Macbook" option fixes the double keystroke issue with Mac.
- Two new scripts are born to help users to build GParted-liveUSB ; first one can be used to mount a usb key and also offers the possibility to run the second one ; this second one copies needed files to the fresh attached usb stick and apply syslinux to make it bootable. Computer able to boot off usb is needed !
- Kernel has been updated to 2.6.20-6.
