Intel Thread Profiler is an analysis tool that helps developers visualize threaded application behavior and pinpoint parallel performance issues. It is a way to gain precise insight into threaded code at an application/lock level. It tells the developer what percent of their code is not optimally parallelized for the hardware platform on which the application is running. It also shows the developer where too much thread synchronization related overhead is negatively impacting performance and how many of the created software threads are active (able to contribute to software performance) at any given point in time. The product can be used by Fortran and C++ developers that have already threaded their code with threading models such as Windows* Threads, POSIX* Threads or OpenMP*.
